A bit of background here. As some may know, it was reported before that AlphaDream, the creators of the Mario & Luigi RPG franchise had tragically declared bankruptcy and have possibly shut their doors. Their website also is seemingly no longer active.
Very quickly after the news dropped, Liam Robertson (who hosts the Game History Secrets videos for DYKG among other things) tweeted that he was aware of one Switch title the team was involved with before they filed for bankruptcy, but couldn’t make that info public yet. The only hint provided was that the game was releasing soon, and clarifying that their work on said title was finished.
Well the identity of the Switch title can now be revealed, and that is Mario & Sonic at the Olympic Games – Tokyo 2020 for Switch. As seen in the credits for the game (seen at 9:26 in the video as uploaded by Zephiel810 on YouTube WARNING: ENDING SPOILERS). AlphaDream was one of four developers that Sega contracted to help provide support for the project. The other three teams were Racjin (returning from the Wii entries), Yuke’s (who also worked on the other Tokyo 2020 title for Sega), and Success Corp. Racjin seemingly did the most work of the four, as their portion of the credits was the longest, and theirs was first of the four developers.
Here’s AlphaDream’s entire portion of the credits:

And that’s it! What do you think of the game and does AlphaDream’s involvement excite you at all? Let me know in the comments below!
