Earlier it was reported that retailer publisher Microids were teaming up with Oddworld Inhabitants (the creators of the Oddworld franchise) and would be bringing three Oddworld games that would be coming to Switch and would do so at retail by them. The first of which was right away revealed to be Oddworld: Stranger’s Wrath HD, releasing at retail on Switch this spring, and the game was just recently released on the eShop back on January 23rd, 2020.
The identity of the other two games weren’t known, but now thanks to the ESRB, we now know the second one at least and it’s one also (sort of) making its Nintendo-debut; Oddworld: Munch’s Oddysee HD. Funny thing is, this game was actually a collab with Microsoft on the original Xbox, and was actually considered to be a Microsoft game, even when it got a GBA version. The Microsoft logo indeed appears on the back cover of the GBA box!
Somewhere along the way, the game went 3rd-party and fully in Oddworld Inhabitant’s hands, allowing the game to land on PS3 and Vita in 2012 and 2014 respectively. The Switch version will technically mark the game’s current gen console debut, as it hasn’t yet gotten a PS4 or Xbox One port yet. Stranger’s Wrath HD was the same. Also note that Stranger’s Wrath was originally published by EA on the original Xbox with no involvement from Microsoft. Though a PS2 version was apparently in the works, it got cancelled. Same with a Wii U version (remember when it was revealed at E3 2013 during that montage in the E3 Direct?). No go sadly.
