This is a shocker. What we have here is the first ever non-Microsoft console game by the formerly Microsoft-owned developer Twisted Pixel Games. Microsoft bought them back in 2011 but spun them off in 2015. Every one of their projects before and after they were owned by Microsoft were (console-wise) only on Microsoft consoles (exceptions being PC and mobile devices, which Microsoft release games on anyway).

Ms Splosion Man was Twisted Pixel Games’ fourth title (released back in 2011 on Xbox 360) and is the sequel to the original Splosion Man released back in 2009. For the Switch version, Twisted Pixel Games made a number of enhancements. Most notable is the framerate being doubled from 30fps to 60fps, and it’s apparently higher resolution to boot (though I don’t know the exact numbers). HD Rumble is also supported, AND single-Joy-Con play is as well! So how is this game anyway? Read on and find out!

Here’s a charming little 2.5D platformer starring a little blue guy with a propeller on his head named Heroki. This is created by a small team called Picomy who actually contributed to Level Design in Sonic Mania, true story!

In fact, this game originated on iOS and was even published by Sega. However the Switch version had no involvement from Sega, though Sega are still credited in the credits which you can view from the main menu. So how is this game? Does it fly or does it crash and burn? Let’s find out!

Today I’m reviewing the newest game by the creators of Guacamelee, and for those who don’t know, the Toronto developer Drinkbox Studios was formed by folks who were at Pseudo Interactive (who also were in Toronto), the creators of Cel Damage!

One thing to note is that Drinkbox seemingly did the 3DS and Wii U ports of Severed themselves, unlike with Guacamelee, which was ported to Wii U by Wii U veteran Broken Rules (creators of Chasing Aurora on Wii U and also And Yet it Moves on WiiWare). So it’s interesting to see Drinkbox develop the Nintendo versions of their game themselves this time around.
